Duffy Assembly

Giant Killer was our Duffy role model today at Assembly. He performed an awesome rap made up of words that he thought of on the spot.
We were excited about decorating our Duffy Box and couldn't wait to get our two books from inside. Thank you Duffy!
Congratulations also to Frelex Mikaele for recieving our class Duffy Award.

Easter with our buddy class

It was exciting spending time with our buddy class doing some fun activities for Easter. We got to make some chocolate nests and Easter Baskets and we even got to take our buddies along with us to help with feeding the animals.

Ingredients for making Easter Nests

2 cups of Rice Bubbles

250g of Milk Chocolate

1/2 cup of Shredded Coconut

Milk Chocolate

Melt the Chocolate in a cup

Rice Bubbles

Method

1) Pour 2 cups of Rice Bubbles or Cocoa Pops into a Big Bowl.

2) Melt 250g of Milk Chocolate 

3) Mix the Melted Chocolate with the Rice Bubbles. 

4) Add the Shredded Coconut 

5) Mix the ingredients together

6) Use a table spoon and scoop a spoonful into a cup cake paper.

7) Put some M&M's or Maltesers or Mini eggs on the top

8) Leave on a bench to set or place in the fridge.
NOTE: Children make sure to have an adult help you when melting the chocolate.

Week 8

Feeding the Kunikuni and Heihei!

My class went to feed the pigs and chickens. I felt happy because we went to feed the pigs. I saw the pigs running around in their pen. We put the water in the bucket for the pigs and chickens. The chickens laid five eggs. We took these eggs to the staffroom.

Feeding the two fat hairy pigs and the scary Chickens!

We jumped into two lines and zoomed like a jet to Hettie, Percy and the Chickens. I couldn't believe that my class was going to feed the animals. I felt so happy and crazy like a monkey at the zoo. I knew it was going to be a great experience feeding the animals. 

When I fed the pigs I felt excited. I wanted to let them bite my arm off. The chickens looked creepy. When they looked at me it almost seemed like they wanted to peck me instead of their kai. 

When we finished feeding the animals we had to make sure that we washed our hands. I didn't want to leave. I couldn't wait for the next feeding day.

The Cheeky Cheetahs enjoyed feeding the animals at our school this week. We were lucky enough to have had our buddies join us for one of the feeding days as well.

Tie Dye Background Self Portraits

In Visual Art, we have been focusing on sketching, colouring one way, creating our own patterns and designs to represent ourselves and our culture. During our Self Portrait lessons we required a lot of focus, determination, motivation, encouragement from our peers and patience to complete our art piece. Our medium that we used included colouring pencils, vivid and dye.

ASB Get Wise (Financial Literacy)

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

On Monday we had Jeremy from ASB Get Wise visit our class and school for the first time. He talked to us about money. His job is to go around to schools to teach students about saving money. 

I learnt a lot of information that morning about how to make money and different ways to save money. Some of the ways to make money included doing chores like folding the washing, washing the dishes or cleaning the house. Another way to make money is helping out in the neighbourhood, for example mowing the lawns, painting a fence or babysitting.

I found selling and trading an exciting way to make money. This includes things like having a garage sale, bakery sale or selling lemonade to family members. It is important to start saving now so you have some money for yourself when you grow up. 

I get money for doing chores and helping around the house. I now know the importance to spend some for me, and save some too. Thank you Jeremy for teaching me about saving money!
